Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about checking, registering, and recovering luxury watches.

General

StolenWatchCheck is a global database of reported stolen and lost luxury watches. We allow anyone to check a watch's serial number before purchase, and allow watch owners, insurers, and police to register losses — helping to recover stolen timepieces and prevent them from being resold.

Checking a Watch

The location varies by brand. For Rolex, it is between the lugs at 6 o'clock (visible when the strap is removed). For Patek Philippe, it is on the case back or movement. For Omega, it is on the case back on modern models. Our Check page includes a brand-specific guide.

Reporting a Theft or Loss

Visit our Report a Loss page, fill in the watch details (brand, model, serial number, reference number), the incident details, and your contact information. Registration is free for private individuals and takes less than 2 minutes. Your watch appears in the database immediately.
